Every house makes turmeric milk, and most of the time the turmeric simply goes into the milk and the cup turns bitter. The right way is to fry the turmeric in a little ghee first - the bitterness goes and the colour deepens to gold. It is not complete without a pinch of pepper.

Ingredients

  • Milk - 2 cups
  • Chavsamrat Haldi Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Ghee - 1/4 tsp
  • Black pepper - a pinch
  • Dry ginger powder - 1/4 tsp (optional)
  • Jaggery or honey, to taste

Method

  1. Heat the ghee in a small pan.
  2. Add Chavsamrat Haldi Powder and fry on low for 20-30 seconds, without letting it burn.
  3. Pour in the milk and stir.
  4. Bring to a boil on medium, then simmer 4-5 minutes on low.
  5. Stir in the pepper and dry ginger.
  6. Turn off the heat. Add jaggery or honey once it has cooled a little.

Tips

  • Do not leave out the pepper - it belongs with turmeric.
  • Never add honey to boiling milk; wait until it is warm.
  • It works best taken at night before bed.
